This new facility for the Dublin Arts Council entailed the renovation of an existing 7,000- square foot residence overlooking the Scioto River. Program requirements for the mixed-use facility incorporated modifications to the existing residence in order to provide gallery space, classrooms, meeting areas, offices, conference rooms, and a pottery studio. The project included compliance with significant Building Code Requirements, including the addition of an elevator; a second means of egress from the second floor; fire alarm system and smoke detectors; and improvements to building services and structure according to the desired uses.
The building is listed on the historic registry, the project necessitated adherence to strict zoning guidelines. The building was updated to meet code requirements while maintaining the essence of the original structure. The French Eclectic influence of the existing home was continued in the addition through the use of stone, wrought iron, slate roof and copper.
