This residence in Dublin, Ohio takes advantage of a spectacular riverfront site to develop a series of interior and exterior spaces designed to meet the client’s program. The program balances between formal and informal architectural and program requirements.
The site is a wooded with sloping hillside, fronting a deep ravine to the north and the Scioto River to the east. The exterior spaces develop into a formal entry court, a semi-enclosed south-facing courtyard off the main circulation gallery, and a casual riverfront room with expansive terracing, pool deck and greenhouse surrounded by the wooded site. The main stair entry hall and gallery create a linear circulation route through the house, ending in the expansive family room with riverfront views, a massive stone fireplace and recut timber framed trussed roof structure. This arrangement of spaces wraps around the upper courtyard space, bringing the riverfront room to the interior of the house.
