This 7,800 SF. facility houses the Fairfield County District’s Northwest branch library and their bookmobile operation. The client wanted a cost effective solution to the construction and wanted it to be unique, but fit in to the industrial area it was located.
7,000 SF. of the building was designed using a pre-engineered metal building with an 800 SF. conventionally framed entry. The building was situated to allow for a future expansion of the pre-engineered building of an additional 7,000 SF. The exterior skin of the building utilized metal paneling with the accents of ground face concrete masonry and clearstory window framing. The lighted steel entry framing was created as a statement to identify the building from a distance. The success of the library was in embracing the pre-engineered building design materials, and supplementing other more refined materials, in limited amounts, to make the library an inviting and creative environment
