This project consisted of an overall Master Plan for the site to integrate education and sanctuary facilities.
Phase I of the project entailed the addition to and renovation of the existing Fellowship Hall and Sunday school classroom building for the church. The existing 6,000-square foot building was expanded with a 6,100-square foot addition, consisting of new church offices and eight new classrooms. Approximately 4,200 square feet of the existing space was renovated with new finishes, and electrical and mechanical systems. Phase II entailed the addition of a new sanctuary to the existing church.
The design for the education building project focused on wrapping the existing 1960’s vintage building with a façade that complemented and amalgamated with the existing sanctuary, constructed in 1872. The brick selected for the project and the detailing with cut limestone elements develops a strong aesthetic between the two buildings.
