Setting the northern edge of the Arena District, the 500 Neil Avenue building is a prominent welcoming gateway into downtown for all who visit the Arena District. Constructed on the site of the former Hamilton Parker Brick Yard, and bounded by Interstate 670 to the North, the iconic multi-tenant building, serves as a cornerstone to the Arena District. The primarily brick clad building introduces a freeway scale, signature glass curtainwall façade that transitions the west building face to the north building face, in a faceted sweeping curve of glass that reveals the interior office environment of anchor tenant Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc.’s Midwest headquarters.
The building’s exterior design is a balance between traditional brick masonry detailing and modern cavity wall construction. The building features a rusticated brick base below a stone capped brick cornice that wraps the entire masonry portion of the building. Above is a two-story brick pier and spandrel system that organizes the middle of the building. The fourth floor caps the building with a corbelled brick cornice. On the south face, the fourth floor is wrapped with a continuous glass wall that is capped with a modern cornice and brow turned to views of the Columbus skyline.
